Wiki Inspire

Every year we partner with educational institutions (and hundreds of students) across North America to reshape the world one edit-a-thon at a time.

Why do we do it?

We're committed to making a difference in the world. Wikipedia is one of the most popular English-language sites in the world and one of the few platforms that provides free fact-checked news and information. The site also has fewer than one in five of its biographies about women and less than one in three articles about BIPOC creators. Wanna help us make a difference? Sign up.

Help us change the world one page at at a time

But while there is even a page dedicated to which direction you hang a roll of toilet paper, the gender and race gap on the site is stark, and long documented. There is something to be said about, you know, seeing it to be it,” said Takara Small founder of the Wikipedia INspire campaign that is working to change that."

FAQs

How can we help?

We're always looking for volunteers or individuals to donate laptops (or other devices) to students who can't afford their own and would like to participate in our program. Email us via the link at the bottom of the page.

How do you choose who to profile?

Both institutions in Canada and the U.S. pick individuals based on submissions from the public. Click here to add your suggestions. Visit our submission page to share your suggestions.

What is the deadline?

We're always accepting suggestions on a rolling basis. See our first FAQ for more details

What is the criteria?

We create posts about any individual, group or project but focus our efforts on underserved groups who have largely been ignored.
